Be an Expert Witness..
Physicians serve a vital role in health-care delivery, but also as experts in the legal system. The legal system requires the opinion of an expert when an issue of fact is outside of the experience and knowledge of a lay person. A medical expert is required to address issues of facts in personal injury matters, especially as to issues of causation. A patient who experiences a clinical pattern of signs and symptoms, suggestive of a lumbar disk herniation, can be diagnosed by a medical expert. However, the legal system is often interested in more than a diagnosis. The legal system demands an opinion "within a degree of reasonable medical certainty", as to whether these signs and symptoms were caused by a previous set of events, such as a fall or the impact from a motor vehicle accident. Only with this type of opinion evidence, may an attorney support his conclusion that the injury caused the patient’s clinical complaints.

If you would like to serve as a medical expert for review of medical records or for providing a medical opinion on a personal injury matter, please fill out the following information template so that we may call upon you when MyLAWDOC is asked to make a referral to a particular type of medical specialist. You may indicate whether you would be available for either or just one of the above types of services. At some future time, we may contact you and request that you provide us with a copy of your curriculum vitae.

My
LAWDOC looks forward to working with you in providing assistance to the legal community.
